Google Becomes Social
Our friends and contacts are a key part of our online life. People spend a lot of time in social networks and publishing new content. This transforms the web to the social web. Google launched Google Social Search in 2009 which helps to find more relevant public content from our social circles and networks.
Google built a social circle of our friends and contacts using the connections linked from our public Google profiles, such as the people we follow on Twitter or FriendFeed. Google made an announcement last week about updates in Social Search.
First, Google made Social Search more comprehensive by adding notes for links people have shared on Twitter and other sites.
Then Google gave more control to the users by connecting the accounts and making the account connections more convenient.
Finally, the social search results get mixed throughout the relevance of the results.
Here is a video posted on YouTube about Google Social Search updates.
